Mahindra has officially confirmed one of its most exciting upcoming vehicles for India—the Scorpio Lifestyler, a new lifestyle pickup truck based on the Scorpio family. Mahindra unveiled the production-ready pickup on August 14, 2026, and confirmed that it will arrive in India by April 2027. The company has also revealed that the starting price will be below ₹19.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
Scorpio Lifestyler: A New Pickup for India

The Scorpio Lifestyler is not simply a Scorpio N with a cargo box added at the back. It has been designed as a proper lifestyle pickup, combining the tough nature of a pickup truck with the comfort and road presence of an SUV. It uses Mahindra’s new-generation body-on-frame platform and has been developed with global markets in mind.
The new pickup will have a double-cab design, meaning it can carry passengers in two rows while also offering a large open cargo area at the rear. This makes it useful for everyday driving, road trips, outdoor activities and carrying larger items.
Bold and Muscular Design

The Scorpio Lifestyler gets a strong and muscular look. At the front, it features a large grille, high-set LED headlights and distinctive daytime running lights. The design keeps the tough Scorpio family character but gives the pickup its own identity. The long body and rear cargo bed make it look much larger and more adventurous than a normal SUV.
Mahindra has also shown three different versions of the pickup called the Valley, Reef and Trail editions. Each one has a different personality, from comfortable and stylish to more adventurous and off-road focused.
Engine, 4WD and Performance

Mahindra has not yet revealed every final Indian-specification detail. However, reports indicate that the Scorpio Lifestyler is expected to use a 2.2-litre diesel engine, with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options. A four-wheel-drive system is also expected, making it suitable for difficult roads and off-road driving.
The pickup will be positioned as a lifestyle vehicle rather than just a work truck. This means buyers can expect a combination of strong performance, better comfort and modern technology.
Price and Rivals

The biggest surprise is the confirmed starting price. Mahindra says the Scorpio Lifestyler will start at less than ₹19.79 lakh ex-showroom in India. This could make it considerably cheaper than the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, which currently sit at higher price points.
The India launch is planned by April 2027, so more information about variants, engine specifications, features and exact pricing should come closer to the launch.
Final Verdict
The Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler could become one of the most interesting pickup trucks in India. It brings the tough Scorpio image, SUV-like comfort and pickup practicality into one package. Its confirmed price below ₹19.79 lakh could also give it a strong advantage over established rivals. If Mahindra gets the pricing, features and performance right, the Scorpio Lifestyler could make lifestyle pickups much more popular in India.
