For years, Kia Telluride has been known as a practical, premium-feeling family full three row size SUV with a strong V6 engine however with stricter emission norms and changing buyer expectations, Kia has taken a bold step—replacing the old V6 with a modern turbocharged engine and introducing a powerful hybrid system that delivers performance with efficiency in a refined way.

The New Telluride improves on almost every key area—power, refinement, fuel efficiency, and driving experience. Under the hood sits a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors and a compact lithium-ion battery. This setup produces a combined 329 horsepower and 339 lb of torque, making it significantly more powerful than the outgoing V6 model.

Unlike many hybrids that prioritise efficiency over performance, this one delivers strong acceleration and immediate response thanks to electric torque. The power is sent through a 6-speed automatic gearbox, and both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations are available. This combination ensures that whether you’re driving in city traffic or long drives on highways, the Telluride feels smooth, refined and effortless.

A Hybrid That Actually Makes Sense

The biggest advantage of the turbo-hybrid system is that it does not have to rely on continuous charging like other EV and with limited range and here Instead of running for extreme electric-only capability, Kia has focused on improving real-world usability. The hybrid system delivers an estimated fuel efficiency of up to 14–15 km/l, which is impressive for a vehicle of this size.

Even more impressive is the driving range. Kia claims that the Telluride Hybrid can travel up to around 950–1,000 km on a full tank, making it an ideal long-distance cruiser. For Indian buyers who often prioritise range and practicality, this kind of efficiency in a large SUV is a big deal.

Design: Bigger, Bolder & Premium

The second-generation Telluride has grown slightly in size, with a longer wheelbase and better road presence. The design continues to follow a bold, boxy theme but now looks more modern and straight. The front fascia features a larger grille, vertically stacked LED lighting, and a more rugged stance, especially in higher trims with the X-Line package.

From the side, the Telluride still carries that classic SUV figure, which gives it a strong and commanding presence. At the rear, updated LED tail lamps add a modern touch while maintaining the identity of the original model.

Step inside, and the improvements are even more noticeable and cabin now feels more premium, inspired by Kia’s newer electric models. Dual 12.3-inch screens dominate the dashboard, and features like wireless connectivity, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, and advanced driver assistance systems make it feel like a proper luxury SUV.

The Telluride continues to offer both 7- and 8-seat configurations, with generous space across all three rows. The second-row comfort and third-row usability remain among the best in the segment.

Driving Experience and Capability

One of the biggest strengths of the Telluride has always been its ride quality, and the hybrid version is noting short on that. The electric motor helps smooth out low-speed driving, reducing engine noise and making city commutes more relaxed. On highways, the turbo engine ensures strong overtaking performance. Despite being a hybrid, the Telluride doesn’t lose its utility factor.

The SUV also comes with advanced all-wheel-drive systems and multi-terrain modes, making it capable of handling rough roads and light off-roading with ease.
